“Daily Cleaning Checklists in Wards & ICUs – Shift From Paper to Digital”
By Ms. Pradeepa M, Head – Quality & Performance Improvement, AVM Hospital, Thoothukudi
What the article covers
- Ward and ICU cleaning was tracked on paper tick-sheets, so it was hard to see in real time whether each task was done, missed cleaning came to light late, and the paper needed storage.
- In 2025, AVM Hospital moved the checklists to humblx: each in-patient area mapped in the app with a QR board, tasks logged on CUG mobiles with time stamps, alerts for missed tasks, and dashboards and trend reports.
- The change was managed with live and virtual training by the humblx team, and presented to staff as process improvement, not punishment.
- She describes tasks completed and recorded on time, more accountable ward staff, quick digital spot checks for supervisors, auditors impressed by the digital reports and housekeeping staff proud to see their work on the dashboard.
“The change was noticeable within weeks of implementation. … By digitalising using HUMBLX, we at AVM Hospital experienced tremendous improvement in daily operations ensuring stronger patient safety practices and reducing the risk of infection in wards and ICUs.”
